ORTHODONTICS

At Clínica Dental Paguera, we have Dr. Mar Lucas Ruiz, an orthodontist, and offer a wide range of treatment options.

Orthodontics is a specialty that studies, prevents, and corrects developmental abnormalities, dental arch shapes, and the position of the jaws and teeth. Its goal is to restore the morphological and functional balance of the mouth and face, thereby also improving facial aesthetics.

Each patient is unique, which is why at our clinic, all our patients receive a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation to determine the most appropriate treatment for each individual.

We offer all types of treatments:

Dentofacial orthopedics:

We guide the facial bone structures for proper jaw growth and development.

To achieve this, we use various types of functional appliances:

KLAMMT

This is a functional appliance used to treat anterior open bites, as well as Class I, II, and III malocclusions.
The modification is made to the incisal guides, which are positioned to prevent the tongue or fingers from interposing against the dental arches.

TWIN BLOCK

It uses occlusal forces as a functional mechanism to correct malocclusion. It consists of two appliances: one upper and one lower, with bite plates that fit together at a 70º angle, advancing the mandible to Class I. Being divided into two parts, it facilitates normal formation and function; therefore, it is the most comfortable and aesthetically pleasing functional appliance available.

QUAD HELIX

The Quad Helix appliance is a fixed expander designed to create more space in the upper jaw. It is prescribed as part of interceptive orthodontic treatment and is widely used during the mixed dentition stage.

HYRAX AND MCNAMARA EXPANDERS

The most commonly used expanders are the Hass, Hyrax, and McNamara types, or direct bonding. The Hyrax and Hass expanders are used in mixed or early permanent dentitions, consisting of bands cemented to the molars and wires that run along the palatal surfaces of the lateral incisors.

ACTIVE PLATES

Active plates are generally a type of sheet made of a material such as plastic or acrylic and are usually placed on the upper gum. The patient can put them in and take them out themselves.

PROGENI ARCHES

This arch is inserted into the upper resin appliance, contacting the lower incisors to prevent the patient’s mandible from moving forward.
It is commonly used in cases of mild anterior crossbite or edge-to-edge bite, and when the patient has growth potential.

EXTRAORAL TRACTION

Extraoral traction is the category of appliances that includes all those that, thanks to the help of certain elements located outside the mouth, focus their force on the teeth or jaws.

FACIAL MASK

A dental facial mask is an orthopedic appliance used by dentists in orthodontics for clinical cases of patients with Class III malocclusion
and in children who require stimulation of the upper jaw forward.

CHIN CUSHION

An orthodontic chin cup is an extraoral appliance, meaning it acts on the teeth and jaws from outside the mouth.

It is used to reduce or correct prognathism or skeletal Class III malocclusions. In these types of malocclusion, the lower jaw develops more than the upper jaw,
causing the lower dental arch to extend forward beyond the upper arch. This is commonly known as an underbite.
